Our 2019 Schedule of Events

  1. June 17 - August 2, 2019
    CAMP SUN SPLASH
    Join the Saint Louis Torchbearers 2 for our 8th Annual Summer Day Camp in Fairgrounds Park. We are happy to open 50 spaces to youth between 4 and 18 years of age. Our campers learn while having lots of fun. We offer breakfast and lunch compliments of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)., 20 field trips, in-camp training, swimming daily, and lots of fun activities.
  2. Saturday May 18, 25, June 1, 8, 15, 22-23
    READING RIDERS
    This op is made possible by BYEF. Campers who participate in this activity learn the joy of reading in museums and riding on designated trails. The bikers explore museums with guides, bike for 2 hours, eat lunch & journal from 8 am to 2 pm. A t-shirt, breakfast & lunch, transportation, loaner bikes, the opportunity to make their own journal, bike safety, proper nutrition and hydration instruction are included. The experience concludes with an overnight tent sleeping experience in a local State of MO park.
  3. Saturday, October 5-6, 2019
    WOW MO State Parks
    This is one event the campers always want to attend. The campers participate in a full day of outdoor camping events with conservationists, naturalists park rangers, and a host of volunteers from local agencies. The day is filled with fishing, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering, flag adventures, outdoor cooking, cooking dinner in foil packs, roasting marsh mellows, listening to stories over an open fire and sleeping in tents. The campers leave with their commemorative t-shirt and lots of fun memories.
  4. HomeWork Helps
    October 13 to January 4, 2019
    This year will mark our 3rd year of helping PK - 3rd grade students develop a firm pattern of homework completion. Twelve children receive round trip transportation to experience 1 to 1 assistance with their homework on the campus of a local college for a total of 240 hours. This time period includes Saturday outings whereby the children and their homework mentor bond as they explore cultural events in the community.
